- What did you learn this week about UX design?
I learned that a lot of UX design is marketing and focus groups that go into launching a site. We also need to be mindful of our likes or dislikes when it comes to the development of a client website. UX design has many levels of operation that are broken down into sections that are revisited and recalibrated to prevent them from doing the same tasks.
- Discuss in detail the common deliverables of the UX process, including research, (e.g. user personas and user flow), and explain how they can help create an effective design that addresses the user’s needs. How can the UX process enhance a design project?
Research in UX design is a process of gathering insight into customer needs, behaviors, and challenges. It involves surveys and focus groups to help designers identify pain points, validate ideas, and ensure the product matches with customer requirements and expectations.
UX design common deliverables process
- User Personas are the target audience’s goals, motivation, skills, background, and more. After research, the user persona is usually a fictional person for your team to remember who they are building this product for.
- Storyboards illustrate what tasks your customer is trying to complete and under what circumstances.
- Customer Journey Maps tracks the customer experience while using the product and completing tasks.
- Brainstorming is a method used by the group to generate ideas to combat difficulties and possibilities during the user research phase.
- User Flow is a map of actions the user takes to complete a task.
- Site Map forms the hierarchy of the content and specifics which pages go where,
- Wireframes is a technical document that depicts the page structure layout, information architecture, and user flow of the website. There are three Fidelity phases:
- Low- outline without design, Medium- outline site with minimum design
- High- outline of a site with complete design visuals more of a finished product)
- Style Tile (Done after you have completed the mid-fidelity wireframes) visual reference of the look and feel. Many style types use color palettes, textures, and buttons. Different fidelity wireframes are given as examples to not distract customers/stockholders.
- Prototypes -three types: low, high, and interactive fidelity.
- Low are usually pen and pencil (crude)drawings.
- High mockup for what display the content be shown on.
- Interactive is a clickable prototype with no code using tools like Figma and Invision.
These steps that are streamlined allow the team/developers the ability to go back and forth. Also, eases the transitions of updates and bugs.
UX design is used for the client blog assignment. The Figma tool would have been great to have a visual mockup of the site. It might help with any bug issues. Have more in-depth feedback and interactions when answering questions for us to visualize the site.
